Maintaining physical, mental and spiritual health all at the same time has been one of my biggest inspirations and challenges over the years.

I am wired to give up on my physical health and well-being pretty fast under high pressure, stress and anxiety. As such, I really need to make a conscious effort to get out of my head and follow my heart.

I am so blessed to have a circle of mentors, friends and family members who call me out on that. They are sometimes tough and sometimes gentle, and anything in between with their pure good intentions. In fact, they allow me to refocus and reconnect with “me”.

I would invite you to be my partner in this self-care journey for my own selfish needs, but also for yours.  Be my companion to bring more wholeness, happiness and compassion to our life.

Here is my simple guide to a long lasting vitality and longevity for years to come:

1. Exercise the body

Walking in nature/hiking trails during sunrise or sunset, in silence or with my loved ones, brings me so much joy and peace within. It boosts my energy, soothes my active brain and fills me with a sense of self-care throughout the day. This gentle and profound daily exercise reconnects me with the beauty of life and all the living creatures around me. It also inspires me to maintain a great habit as I age.

2. Feed the body

I have been guilty of savouring my mom’s home made bread as a forbidden treat during this Covid-19 self isolation time. However, my love for veggies, fruits, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds and most plant based foods is profound.

I vividly remember my summer walks to our family orchards in my childhood. We could taste the gifts of the earth we received in abundance. I also have the best memories of collecting fresh eggs at my uncle’s garden or my grandma’s best baked chicken and rice layered with carrots and beets in an outdoor clay fire pit. Life was simple and so healthy.

That is where my love for farmers markets comes from. I enjoy finding and shopping from the best of them near me. Most markets are also set up for online orders for pick up or delivery to your door, where I order my produce directly from them when they are open. Healthy food nurtures my mood and I already feel its benefits. How about you?

3. Self-Soothe to sleep

I am an early bird with a hyperactive brain during the day. To have a good night’s sleep, I learned to avoid eating a few hours before my bedtime. Eating late really disturbs my sleep causing me to wake up in the middle of the night or have nightmares.

Instead, I love to drink hot water with lemon every night. It calms me and gives me a good night’s sleep.

Finally, sleeping one or two hours extra on a weekend makes me feel like the queen of the world.

2. Nurture the soul

I am blessed to live in the world of technology where I receive daily meditation reminders from different powerful sources.

I am grateful to have a shared audio book account with my friend where I can listen to my favorite book of the week and/or the month.

I am proud to keep learning, nurturing good companies and relationships with healthy habits in my life. Making healthy changes together with my loved ones motivates me and brings me so much closer to them.

Life is beautiful and simple. Let’s be present and say “Yes” to what gives us energy and “No” to what drains us.

With love and gratitude
